Dashalier - 4 years old

Three and a half years since my last post when Diesel was just 9 months old. I'm surprised to see this blog has had nearly 7,000 views, but all these years later I can understand it's probably down to there still not being much information on the crossbreed Dashalier. I was, however, invited to a great Facebook page - Dashalier Owners and Admirers - check it out. If you're new to this blog - it's probably right to point out now that a Dashalier is a cross between a Dachshund and a Cavalier spaniel.

Deez has been the greatest pleasure in our lives. He's got a bro now - Dexter who is 2. Dex is a purebred Dachshund. We can't work out if he's mini or standard, but he's full of love all the same. Diesel is a bit of a snob, so he didn't like him at first, but he wouldn't live without his pal now and will go nuts if he thinks Dex is being hurt (even if we are just play fighting!)

If anyone is considering getting a Dashalier, you'll never regret your decision. Deez has taken all the great traits from both breeds - he's clever, curious and charming like a dachshund. He loves comfort, love and hugs like a cavalier. However if you let him off his lead he will run like a hunter. He's got that guard dog in him so loves a good bark when he hears something, not to mention digging in my back garden!

Like I've mentioned in previous blogs, Diesel's hair has gotten pretty long in adulthood. I would groom him, but to be honest he looks quite cute scruffy and my other half would therefore kill me!

A Dashalier really is your best friend, he can read you like a book. He knows when you need him and will do anything to cheer you up. If I compare him to my purebred dachshund Dex, then Deez is by far more intelligent and aware of what your saying and your emotions. Dexter is purely stubborn which can come across as being stupid, but Deez is selfless and will literally roll over to please you at the turn of your little finger whether you have a treat or not.

This is Diesel and Dexter with me and their Grandma.

I honestly love him with all my heart and I don't think I'll ever have another dog again that I have such a strong connection with. He is a beautiful soul and I'm so incredibly lucky to have him in my life. He is my pride and joy.
