Diesel was born 14 September 2012, his mother was a family pet Blenheim King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, and his father was a Trio colour Miniature Dachshund show dog. He was the only boy of the litter with four sisters. He is very well tempered, incredibly loving, quiet and clever.
6 weeks old (stayed with Mum until he was 8 weeks)
9 weeks
He only ever wants either food, hugs or play. He loves being handled and picked up and more than often ends up falling asleep in your arms. His favourite place is on my lap, completely hidden under a blanket (head included) taking in the warmth.
He has the short legs of a Dachshund and colours of his dad, he's quite small (at four months he weighs 4.9kg). His ears however are like the Cavalier, not as long but they are quite fluffy and curly. He's very quiet, only barks on demand and enjoys two short 20min walks a day.
He is not bothered by other dogs, doesn't go to them, doesn't run from them - but he absolutely loves humans and is very kind and gentle with children. Before he was 3 months he could already sit, lie down, stay, fetch, speak, give paw, roll over and jump, and he was fully toilet trained going outside whenever he needed to.
Before getting him we tried to do a lot of research on the internet. The same descriptions and photos came up again and again so I thought I would share some fresh pictures and information about my hybrid-dog the Dashalier/Cavahund and let people know we couldn't be without him.

We also have a miniature long-haired dachsund/king charles cavalier named Dakota and he is the best dog we have ever had!!! He is s-o-o-o-o loving and does everything that you described in your post. I check the internet all the time to see if we can find any other dashaliers for sale, but haven't been able to find anything. So, I was excited to see your blog. We got bought Dakota from a breeder in Missouri but since this one litter, they have not had anymore. His body type is as you mentioned and a couple things to add...his nose isn't near as long as a dachsund and his chest isn't the big barrel chest of a dachsund. Even though he is a miniature, he is about 20 lbs at 2 years old. He is a beautiful red (looks like a Irish setter with the longer hair). His coat is incredibly soft, like a bunny. We love him a lot and couldn't imagine life without him. He is a real character and I wish that this breed was easier to find.

Do you have any photos of Dakota? He sounds so cute - I'm surprised there's a serious lack of information on this crossbreed, they are such loving dogs. Diesel is now half a year old and very lively now! Will be posting an up to date blog soon.
I agree. Even when you look up breeders information, I can't find anything. Can you let me know how to attach photos to a blog. i am a newby at this and I can't figure it out. I'd like to share.....send me some updated photos of diesel if you can.
Thanks
We have a dachshund/ cavalier king charles spaniel too! You are absolutely right that there isn't much info out there on them. I absolutely love my girl, April. Wish I could post a pic on your blog! They look like siblings!
Does anyone know of a breeder that has Dashaliers? I love dacshies and my wife loves king charles so this seems like the perfect dog for us but I can't find a breeder.
Thanks.
I found my dog on pets4homes, he was actually down as a King Charles but the info explained a little more. I don't know of any being sold, my breeder only had two litters and stopped.
I found a Dashalier at a local humane society on Sun! I inquired if he had cavalier in him. We have 3 Cavalier King Charles and I thought he did. Nothing to document he does but I'm convinced. His shape, length & nose is definetly daschund but his hair is cavalier. Not sure of temperament yet as he's only lived with us for 2 hours so far! Our 3 cavs are not impressed as he is 3 and full of energy. They are 6 & 7 are pretty much couch potatoes. I'm hoping he changes that!
We just lost Luka, our Dashalier last night. She was our world. Her sister just lays around now looking confused and lonely. The breeder we got her from no longer breeds them and I can't find any breeders online. Can anybody please point us in a direction?
We have never done a DNA test on our VJ, but we are convinced he is Dashalier. He's the best dog I've ever had. We got him at a shelter in North County San Diego nearly 10 years ago. He's getting grey around the mouth and nose, but still loves to do all things, especially go bye bye. It seems that unless one knows a breeder, the best bet is to visit shelters and hope to find one of these marvelous dogs.
Hi, We just recently bought a Dashalier by accident. We though he was a hound dog, but when we took him to the vet they said he was a Dashalier. We love him to death!!!!! His name is Diesel as well. He is very lovey, social, playful, loyal, and listens well. So far he is easy to train he loves to please us.
Do they shed?
No, no shedding with mine. His hair is quite long though, texture is really soft and wavy.
Hey everyone, looking up Dashalier came across this post! We’ve had our Jax for a year now and never knew what he was! Nia our dog looks exactly like yours!! He was born in a hoarding house here in San Diego where he was turned over to the humane society where we picked him up from! He is the best dog!!
